Rutland's NSPCC Christmas Carol Concert is back, and some famous faces are expected to join the fundraising efforts at All Saints' Church.
The ever popular event returned last year, following a two year absence due to Covid. It helped raise hundreds of pounds for the NSPCC.
The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) are the UK's leading children's charity. They have been looking out for children for over 130 years and work with schools, families and other services to prevent abuse, help rebuild children's lives and support struggling families.
The aim of the NSPCC is to keep childhood free from abuse, and it strives to do everything possible to protect children and prevent it from happening. So, if a law needs to change, or if more needs to be done to protect children, the NSPCC demand it. The fact that they are independent, relying on the public to fund their work, means that they can push for change when others can't.
The Rutland NSPCC concert is now in its 15th year and will be supported by the Rowell Camerata Choir, the Ratby Co-operative Brass Band and their talented team of readers, who will regale Rutland residents with seasonal prose, poetry and song.
This year's event will also welcome Mary Berry, TV presenter, baker and national treasure.
This event has raised over £280,000 for the national charity in the past, and this year the team hope to add to this impressive total.
Tickets are limited and cost £15, and are available at James Sellicks in Oakham or The Falcon Hotel in Uppingham.
The event will begin at 7:30pm at All Saints Church, Church Street, Oakham, Rutland, LE15 6AA.
