The Classic Vehicle Round Rutland Run will be returning in September.
Also known as the Stilton Cheese Run, the run retraces the traditional route used to deliver cheeses from Queenly Hall at Hungerton, Leicestershire, to The Bell Inn, Stilton, Cambridgeshire - where one of the nation's favourite cheeses got its name!
Although the original route began and concluded outside of Rutland, the majority of the driving takes place on the open and rural roads of England's smallest county.
The original 39-mile route used to deliver the cheese was undertaken in a horse drawn carriage, which stopped off to make deliveries of cheeses at the various villages and towns along the route. It was one of the longest commercial carriage rides until internal combustion engined vans and lorries took over as the main mode of commercial road transport.
In recent years, the run has and continues to start from the traditional market town of Uppingham. It also takes slight detours along the Welland Valley either to Barrowden and Wakerley Woods or a slightly longer run to Rockingham near Corby before rejoining the original route at Harringworth.
The Stilton Cheese Classic Vehicle Run was originally run by Jim Barry and Joy Barry, the event organisers and fundraisers since its conception. Sadly both Jim and Joy passed away in 2018, but the team from Uppingham First and the Rotary Club of Uppingham have continued their legacy.
The teams said: "We will always remember the hard work and dedication they put in to this event every year and continue to make it happen with hundreds of people each year enjoying the fantastic scenery along the routes, admiring classic vehicles and having a good time."
On 3 September 2023, the annual event will be returning.
The classic car run is open to all classic cars, commercial vehicles, motorcycles and kit cars.
Due to the popularity of the event, only prior booked entries can be accepted and to avoid congestion the number of vehicles is limited to 300.
You can view more information and fill out the online entry form online.

For the car enthusiasts out there, the penultimate Greetham Gathering is taking place tonight, Thursday 17 August.
