Rutland's cadets have moved to a new home in Kendrew Barracks, which has been officially opened by the Lord Lieutenant of Rutland.

£650,000 of investment has enabled the cadets to relocate from nearby St George's Barracks, which is scheduled for closure.

The move will bring the cadets closer to the military community at Kendrew Barracks, with greater opportunity to engage with the growing number of units there, including the Working Dogs Regiment.

This is part of a wider project focussed on 'honouring the past, inspiring the future,' with a string of major investments in the Cadet Forces estate across the region to support the Government's ambition to grow the cadets by 30% by 2035.

The Kendrew Barracks Detachment building officially opened on 8th September. Joined by Cadets, Cadet Volunteers and community supporters, the Lord-Lieutenant unveiled a plaque to mark the occasion.

She said: 'This building is much more than simply bricks and mortar.
