Six new homes could be built in Rutland village field

Six village houses could be built.
If approved by Rutland County Council, the detached homes would be built in a field on the southern boundary of Glaston.
The development would comprise three four-bedroom and two five-bedroom houses along a single new road, each with a private garden and a double garage for car parking and bicycle storage.
In keeping with Glaston's architectural aesthetic, the proposals refer to limestone bands and grey-blue slate as the main building materials.
"Restrained joinery colours and traditional detailing will establish a cohesive material palette that responds to Glaston's architectural character," the application added.
"The architectural approach will establish a consistent identity across the development through simple building forms, traditional roof profiles and carefully composed elevations."
Produced by Sursham Tompkins on behalf of Jeakins Weir Ltd, the application document expresses an ambition to retain existing village features, including a stone perimeter wall, within the development "where practicable".
Additional hedges and trees are planned as boundary features to "integrate the development with its surroundings and provide a transition towards the adjoining agricultural land".
