Rutland and Stamford Sound is holding a drop-in session for local people who are interested in learning more about volunteering opportunities with the community radio station serving Rutland, Stamford and the surrounding area.
The drop-in event is being held in the theatre lounge at Stamford Corn Exchange from 5pm to 8pm on Wednesday 24 April.
Rutland and Stamford Sound launched in March 2021 with the aim of making people feel more connected with the local area. After three years, the station has built a loyal following of listeners who enjoy the music and value Rutland and Stamford Sound as a wonderful source of local news and information.
The station is now seeking more volunteers to support the next stage of its development, expected to include the addition of DAB or FM listening opportunities. Rutland and Stamford Sound is currently available on smart speakers, via its mobile phone apps and online.
Rutland and Stamford Sound is led by local broadcasting legend Rob Persani, supported by a team of volunteer presenters, with further volunteers taking on a wide range of back-office duties. Additional volunteer support is now required for various activities, including helping at events, website maintenance, co-ordinating volunteers, fundraising and producing local news for on-air broadcast.
The drop-in session at the Corn Exchange on 24 April will provide an opportunity to have a chat with existing volunteers about what is involved, and levels of commitment required.
Anyone is welcome to attend, with no previous experience of radio required. Simply come along any time between 5pm and 8pm. For more information contact: [email protected].
