Rutland has reported a fresh case of coronavirus, putting its official total to 13.

The county had remained on a dozen according to the figures supplied by Public Health England, which are based on those receiving hospital treatment.

They do not include cases at home or in care homes, which are typically not tested for, suggesting the actual number of cases are likely to be higher.

As Nub News reported recently, the numbers are based on where the tested patients come from, not which hospital they are being treated in.

Meanwhile, seven more people have died with coronavirus in Lincolnshire Hospitals.

The fatalities come as a major spike upwards in fatalities occurred both regionally and nationally.

The Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust also reported six deaths.

Nationally, some 828 died, compared with 449 reported yesterday.

The United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust, which runs the hospitals at Grantham, Boston, Lincoln and Louth, said the seven further deaths brought the total number of fatalities at its hospitals to 83.

Their statement added: "The patients were six men aged 63,69,71,78 and two aged 88, and a woman aged 93. All had underlying health conditions."

The North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the hospitals at Stamford, Peterborough City and Hinchingbrooke, did not update its numbers today.

But yesterday, it said, the number of deaths at Peterborough City had increased from 26 to 43 compared to a week ago.

The equivalent figures for Hinchingbrooke were 19 rising to 30 over the same period.

Nationally, NHS England said the number of deaths across the UK had increased by 828 to 17,337.

The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus had increased to 129,044, up 4,301 on yesterday.

The official government figures do not include cases at care homes or domestic homes, just hospitals and similar facilities.

Across the region, Leicestershire saw the number of confirmed cases of people with coronavirus increasing from 707 to 731 over the past 24 hours.

Lincolnshire saw its numbers increase from 585 to 593.

North East Lincolnshire saw an increase from 92 to 93.

North Lincolnshire stayed at 171 cases.

Peterborough increased from 137 to 147.
