Rutland has recorded no cases of Covid-19 today.

There were also no more deaths.

The grand total remains at 1683 cases since the start of the pandemic- around one in 25 of Rutland's population.

This is the first time this month Rutland recorded no cases, but the county had three such days in April.

The district has now recorded 8 cases in the week to today, compared with 11 in the week to last Monday and 8 in the week before that.

The 7-day infection rate is now 20 cases per 100,000, which is just below the England average of 23.6, which has avoided the fluctuations seen in Rutland and Lincolnshire.

The Rutland figure is well down on the peak earlier this year, which reached into the 400s for cases per 100,000 of population.

The number of deaths remains at 62, which amounts to about one fatality in 700 residents, which compares to the England average of one-in-500.

The last death was recorded on the last Wednesday of April, the only death with Covid-19 recorded in Rutland during April and so far in May.

Meanwhile, in Lincolnshire, South Kesteven has recorded a further plunge in its 7-day infection rate after just three cases over the weekend and four today.

The district also recorded yet another day without a single death, with the last almost 5 weeks ago.

Last Monday South Kesteven recorded 3 cases, with 6 recorded the Monday before.

Over the past week, the district has recorded 20 cases, compared with 32 in the week to Friday and 38 in the week to last Sunday.

This means South Kesteven now has a 7-day case rate of 14 cases per 100,000, which compares with the England average of 23.

Whilst the figures fluctuate, the latest figures remain among the lowest since last year and around a thirtieth of figures earlier in the year when the weekly rate exceeded 400 cases per 100,000.

Overall, South Kesteven has seen 7612 recorded cases since the start of the pandemic- which is about one for every 20 residents.

The number of deaths has remained at 266 for more than a month. This means that around one-in-600 residents have died within 28 days of a positive test since the pandemic started, which compares with an England average of one-in-500.

Overall, there have been 31 coronavirus cases in Greater Lincolnshire and no COVID-related deaths on Monday, as restrictions eased further as part of the Prime Minister's roadmap out of lockdown.

The government's COVID-19 dashboard recorded 21 new cases in Lincolnshire, seven in North Lincolnshire and three in North East Lincolnshire.

No coronavirus deaths were registered on Monday. These figures include deaths both in and out of hospitals, as well as residents in hospitals outside the county.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock, speaking in the House of Commons on Monday confirmed fewer than 1,000 people are in UK hospitals with coronavirus.

National cases have increased by 1,979 to 4,452,756, while deaths have risen by five to 127,684.

In national news, people must continue to play their part in stopping coronavirus, Boris Johnson has said, as lockdown rules ease in England, Wales and most of Scotland.

Millions can now socialise indoors in limited numbers, hug loved ones and visit pubs and restaurants inside.

Thousands of British holidaymakers have started taking advantage of the easing of lockdown rules on overseas travel also.

Travellers from England, Scotland and Wales are jetting off to some countries in what the crisis-hit tourism industry hopes is the start of a recovery.
