Coronavirus crisis: Oakham personal trainer Danny will help you get fit

An Oakham personal trainer is running keep fit sessions over the internet.

Danny Barker works for Vivacity Premier Fitness in Peterborough, but with gyms closing due to the lockdown, the 33-year-old launched online classes from his home.

In March, Danny , who went to Vale of Catmose College, was to launch his Fitness Escapes company, which would feature keep fit and bootcamp activities in the Rutland countryside.

But with the lockdown, the new venture will now begin when it is over and life can somewhat return to normal.

Until then, Danny is running fitness sessions from his front living room in Oakham.

He told Oakham Nub News: "I started in March when the gym closed on the Friday and I started on the Saturday. On my 'Fitness Escapes Virtual Gym' group I have 484 members.

"People don't have to pay. The reason I made it free of charge is people need to exercise for their mental health and well-being."

However, people can make a donation through Paypal, and Danny reports a fantastic response.

He continued: "I hope people will join gyms afterwards. It's just a case of trying to keep going."

Danny says he will still offer his online sessions, saying he has had much response from stay-at-home mums.

He added: "Maybe I'll post something to them once a week."
