NHS workers are been offered free therapy to help them cope with the Coronavirus epidemic.
Fiona, who runs Fiona Murphy Transformational Therapy in Oakham, says such support will give them extra coping skills and resilience to help them during this demanding time.
Fiona offers Rapid Transformational therapy, which is a novel form of therapy and uses hypnosis to get to the root causes of issues. It also includes cognitive behaviour therapies and neurolinguistic programmes.
Fiona previously worked in the sales and marketing industry in the pharmaceutical sector for more than 20 years but despite its material benefits, found she never had the time to enjoy the house she had bought and no time for relationships or knowing anyone in her village.
After being made redundant, Fiona decided to 'start again' wanting to work in the healthcare sector, especially where there might be cracks in the system and people 'fall through.' It led her to retrain and launch her therapy service ten years ago.
Fiona says people in the healthcare sector, from doctors to nurses, paramedics and those behind the scenes in labs and offices, are now facing an unimaginable event.
She told Oakham Nub News: "They are facing challenges on many different levels - especially mentally and emotionally and may need or benefit from some support. "
Therefore, Fiona and 60 other similar therapists around the country will offer NHS workers a free therapy session. They have been using social media to promote their support, leading to some NHS workers taking up the offer.
Fiona already uses the internet for therapy sessions as her clients are a mix of UK and overseas clients. She does see people face-to-face, though this has had to stop for the lockdown period.
She said: "The issues I commonly see - anxiety, depression, CPTSD (complex post-traumatic stress disorder), sleeplessness, stress - do not go away and clients still need help - some more than ever.
"There are many different ways to see clients online effectively - Zoom, Skype, FaceTime, messenger etc as long as you have internet, a camera and a microphone it's possible."
Fiona added the service applies to any NHS worker who needs some help with anxiety, stress, sleeplessness, etc, so that they can cope during this crisis.
She tells them: "Between myself and other colleagues we have freed up plenty of online appointments to help - please be assured that the offer of these sessions is FREE. We have already helped some of your colleagues and will continue to do so until this crisis is over. Please share the message to as many NHS workers as possible who can benefit."
