Coronavirus crisis: Pandemic brings switch in material at Oakham print firm

The pandemic has affected an Oakham print business in perhaps an unexpected way.

Think Digital Print Ltd reports the closure of the hospitality sectors has cost it much custom from the printing of publicity material and menus, etc.

But the Covid-related restrictions and regulations has led to a new line in social distancing warnings and related matter at the 17-year-old firm.

Director Nicky Bartram says the company, based in Midland Court, Station Approach, has been proud to have been an integral part in promoting many local businesses with exciting, innovative designs and eye-catching, vibrant printed products.

Located in the heart of Rutland, Nicky and fellow director Pete Halliday have life long experience in the print trade.

Nicky told Nub News: "If you have the seeds of a print idea but are not quite sure which direction to take it in, call us, we are bursting with creative ideas and experience. We are local and here to help.

"We love a project, large or small. If you are at the start of your journey with a new business idea we can help with logos, business stationery, signage, banners and so much more.

"Equally, if you are a long-established, well recognised company looking for a refresh, our in-house design service can help you look at current trends that will suit your needs.

"We are always delighted to help you build your services into an easily identified brand, and also on hand to advise on materials and special finishes that can make your printed products look and feel superior, while still offering great value for money".

Their business, at Units 18 & 19, has a fully equipped print and finishing department, which enables quick turn-around – often same day if required.

Their on-site HP Indigo 5500 digital press is state of the art, using ink rather that toner, providing customers with stunning quality results every time.

The in-house finishing department services include specialist lamination finishes and digital foiling and varnish for a luxury touch on products such as brochures, invitations, business cards and much more.

Pete said: "2020 has been such a difficult year for so many local companies both large and small.

"With just four staff Think Digital has not escaped the ripple effects of lockdown and we have definitely seen a slow down in orders and felt the impact of Covid-19.

"Much of our business involves providing print support to the hospitality sector in the form of menus, posters and brochures etc. So with pubs, restaurants and hotels closed, a large area of our daily work has been lost.

"We are pleased though to have been able to support many sectors, including education, to comply with government directives regarding social distancing in the form of handbooks, signage, stickers and cleanable

posters etc. "

Pete added: "We would like to encourage everyone to support local businesses where they can and help us all to continue to bounce back and grow stronger in 2021.

"Nicky, Chris, Sue and I are always pleased to help, we offer a friendly, approachable, local service with no print run too small or too large. We can even personalise your products.

"We can supply everything from pop-up banners to brochures, leaflets to posters, business cards to appointment cards and greetings cards, from swing tags to gift tags - give us a call and let us do the rest".

Nicky added "Lockdown has also seen an increase in people resuming their interest in a hobby or starting a new past-time; we have been able to help a number of local artists to produce amazing quality reproductions of their artwork for sale to the general public and we love to see their work become greetings cards, art prints, logo labels etc. There is a lot of talent in little Rutland!"

If you have never visited Station Approach in Oakham you will be pleasantly surprised by the range of services available in this corner of town, which include auto-motive repairs, computer services, a carpet and bedding sales centre and even a physiotherapist and personal trainer.

Station Approach is indeed a hidden gem that many people are delighted to find.
