Rutland has recorded more case numbers of Covid-19 today.

But once more, there were no deaths.

The county's 7-day case rate is up 9 cases were reported today, up from 7 yesterday , 8 on Tuesday and none on Monday.

The 7-day rate is now 65.1 cases per 100,000, compared with 57.6 yesterday 52.6 on Tuesday, 37.6 on Monday and 32.6 in the week to Sunday.

Last Thursday, the rate was 15 and it was 10 the Thursday before that.

Rutland's 7-day case rate is almost two-thirds the England average of 101.5 (equivalent to one-in-a-thousand people) and is much higher than the county's 5 rate of the Friday almost two weeks ago, which was based on 2 cases over a week, the lowest since last Summer.

England's 7-day case rate has crept up in recent weeks, whilst in Rutland it has fluctuated at low levels, at one stage last week amongst the lowest in the country.

Rutland has now recorded 1746 cases recorded since the start of the pandemic- about one case for every 25 residents. This compares with the England average of almost one-in-15.

The number of deaths remains at 65, the same as yesterday- about one for every 600 residents, which compares with the national average of one-in-500 residents.

Rutland's last recorded death was on the last Wednesday of April, the only death with Covid-19 recorded in Rutland during April and so far in May and June.

Meanwhile in Lincolnshire, the daily number of Covid-19 cases in South Kesteven has fallen today, stabilising the district's 7-day infection rate.

South Kesteven recorded 7 cases today, compared with 9 yesterday, and six on Tuesday.

This means the 7-day rate for South Kesteven remains at 42.1 cases per 100,000 of population, which is still less than half of the England 7-day case rate of 101.5- about 1 case for every thousand people.

South Kesteven now has a recorded 7793 cases since the start of the pandemic- about one for each 20 residents, which compares with the England average of one for each 15 residents.

The number of reported deaths remains at 270, following an 'increase' by 3 last Wednesday due to changes in how the figures were calculated, rather than any actual deaths.

The last death was about a month ago and the district has recorded two deaths in more than 2 months.

Meanwhile, there have been 177 new coronavirus cases in Greater Lincolnshire on Thursday — more than double last week's figures (127% rise from 78).

The government's COVID-19 dashboard on Thursday recorded 78 new cases in Lincolnshire, 74 in North East Lincolnshire and 25 in North Lincolnshire.

However, both the dashboard and NHS figures reported no further deaths across the region.

Nationally on Thursday, cases increased by 16,703 to 4,684,572, while a further 21 deaths took the tally to 128,048.

MPs have been looking at whether to exempt travellers from amber countries from quarantine if they are fully vaccinated.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson said there was a "real opportunity" to open up foreign travel, and also did not rule out a summer holiday abroad this year.

Data nationally continues to suggest case numbers are rising as people continue to look to the exit date of July 19 for coronavirus restrictions.

Public Health England's latest surveillance report said that the North-west England has the highest rate, with 238.9 cases per 100,000 people in the seven days to 20 June.

The latest data from the Office of National Statistics up to June 23 suggests the UK currently has one of the highest infection rates in Europe, with the reason mainly being put down to the Delta variant.
