Rutland Water is to remain closed despite the government announcing it will ease the lockdown restrictions on travel and exercise from Wednesday.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced last night moves to allow extra exercise and to restore the freedom of people to have day-trips in their own vehicles.
However, with the government stressing the need to maintain social-distancing, Anglian Water believes that this may not be possible at Rutland Water.
An Anglian Water spokesperson told Oakham Nub News: "Having reviewed the Government's announcement yesterday, because our water parks are tourism venues and draw large crowds, they will remain closed to the public at this time.
"It continues to be a difficult decision for us to make because we know how much locals and visitors love our green spaces. However, the health and safety of our colleagues and visitors is our absolute priority. We must be certain that when we reopen we can do so safely, meeting all the guidance on social distancing.
"We will be regularly reviewing our position, However for the time being, like the rest of the hospitality and leisure sector, our attractions, activities and recreation services remain closed.
Councillor Oliver Hemsley, Leader of Rutland County Council, told Oakham Nub News that the council awaited further details and official government guidelines that support the government's roadmap.
He added: "The vast majority of Rutland County Council staff are working from home and will continue to do so in order to maintain essential services and protect our residents from COVID-19.
"Social distancing remains just as important as ever. Rutland's visitor attractions, such as Rutland Water, remain closed until further notice and it is critical that we maintain responsible social distancing whenever we leave our homes."
