Coronavirus crisis: Rutland's Katie can help you say it with flowers

A contactless flower delivery has been launched serving Rutland and Stamford.

Katie Brigstock of Style Your Spaces grew up in Rutland and has lived in the county for 20 years.

The former student of Oakham School moved to Edinburgh last January to set up a business in wedding styling and floral design.

But in February this year, she moved back down to be with family and then the lockdown happened.

Katie explained: "I work freelance on weddings and brand events across the UK and further afield but lost all my bookings and revenue overnight, with most weddings and events either being postponed or cancelled.

"Therefore, I've had to quickly adapt my business to the changing situation and restrictions in place. I don't classify for any government funding or financial aid."

She continued: "I was inspired to launch the flower delivery service as a way of helping people locally connect to those they can't see or be with at the moment by sending flowers to help lift people's spirits and cheer up our homes. Perhaps to send to a friend for their birthday in lockdown or to say thank you to someone who has stepped up to help.

"We all need a bit more joy at the moment so the bouquets will be made with beautiful, seasonal Spring blooms and available in a number of different sizes."

Katie uses a mixture of local growers, plus other Dutch suppliers who have also lost much business.

She delivers across Rutland and Stamford postcodes every Friday. Her first such delivery was on Friday and she reported some good trade.

Orders must be placed by Wednesday 12 noon for delivery that week and can be placed online at www.styleyourspaces.co.uk or over the phone on 07896153454. The bouquets are available in different sizes and will be created with fresh, seasonal blooms.

Katie added: "This is my way of trying to help the local community and spread joy whilst also trying to keep my small business afloat. I've been so grateful and uplifted by locals supporting small business and everyone doing their bit to help."
