Coronavirus crisis: Thousands more Rutlanders get second jab
Thousands more people in Rutland have received their second vaccination against Covid-19.
Rutland Health said today: "We are now starting Phase 2 of the Covid vaccination programme in Rutland, which means we have now started to invite those aged under 50 for vaccination, by age.
"6776 people have now been fully vaccinated at the Rutland Covid Vaccination Centre, with an additional 16701 having received their first dose. Together we have delivered 22477 Covid vaccinations in Rutland."
"Everyone who is aged over 50, health and care workers and clinically vulnerable has been offered vaccination."
In the update, Rutland Health added: "We are adding new clinics every week, so if you cannot see a suitable appointment when you first receive an SMS invitation, please keep checking."
Two weeks ago, as Nub News reported, just 4,500 second doses had been administered, along with 16500 first doses.
Earlier this week, Rutland MP Alicia Kearns commented on the vaccine roll-out in her Rutland and Melton constituency.
The MP said on Facebook: " I was privileged to visit Rutland's exceptional vaccination centre recently to thank its many clinicians, volunteers, Rutland Primary Care Network, and Rutland County Council.
"Rutland and Melton has some of the best vaccination uptake rates in the country, with close to 80 per cent of people having received at least one dose already.
"It was great to see everyone getting their second Pfizer dose, and some very good news today is that over 10 million second vaccine doses have been administered nationwide.
"Clinicians, volunteers, the Council, delivery drivers and many more people from across the County have made this success possible, and I am very grateful to everyone for all their efforts."
