Coronavirus crisis: Vaccinations in Rutland, Leicester and Leicestershire top 200,000

More than 200,000 Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland residents are now fully vaccinated against coronavirus having received their second jabs.
In total 766,328 doses have been given across the city, county and Rutland – 563,777 have now had their first dose with 202,551 people having had their second dose.
The latest data – up to and including April 25 – and shows how may doses have been given since the vaccine programme started in December.
The stats also show that there have been 60,363 more jabs since last week's update – the majority of which – 51,444 – were second doses.
The number of people who have received their first dose by age group is:
Over 80s: 50,824

Younger age groups include NHS, health and social care workers and clinically vulnerable patients.
Appointments are now being offered to those aged 42 and over, or people turning 42 before July 1. Patients can book on for their jabs using the national booking website – click here to book and for more information.
A pop-up clinic is running in Beaumont Leys this week, in an attempt to encourage eligible patients from the area to have their jab.
Held on a drop-in basis, the clinic will invite people to receive their first vaccine without needing to make an appointment.
It was also revealed this week that health bosses are exploring the idea of setting up a drive-through vaccine clinic ready for when younger people are offered their first appointments.
