Council, customer service, library, museum and registry office festive opening hours

Rutland County Council has published opening hours for key services over the Christmas and New Year period. 

The Council offices, including the customer self-service area at the Catmose office in Oakham, will be closed from 4.30pm on Friday 22 December and will reopen at 9am on Tuesday 2 January 2024. 

However, the Council is open for customer contact from Wednesday 27 December until Friday 29 December (but closed on the normal bank holidays).

During this time residents can continue to access Rutland County Council services online, where they can make payments, submit queries and track the progress of any online requests and can call the Customer Services number on 01572 722 577.

All libraries in Rutland, Rutland County Museum and Oakham Castle will be closed on Bank Holidays. View the full opening hours of all of the key council services over the festive holidays online.

In case of emergencies, Rutland County Council provides an out of hours contact service, meaning 24/7 support is available all-year-round. Simply call: 01858 464 499.

Emergency out of hours contact details for Rutland's adult and children's social services are as follows:  

  • Emergency out of hours support for children: 0116 305 0005
  • Emergency out of hours support for adults: 0116 255 1606

Changes will also be made to the Register Office. Please see below for availability: 

  • Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 December - Office closed as usual
  • Monday 25 and Tuesday 26 Dec - Office Closed due to Bank Holiday 
  • Wednesday 27 to Friday 29 December - Appointments available
  • Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 December - Office closed as usual 
  • Monday 1 January 2024 - Office closed due to Bank Holiday
  • Tuesday 2 January 2024 - Normal hours resume
