A councillor will donate all the money he has received from the sale of a gazebo to charity.

Cllr Adam Lowe, who is mayor of Oakham, has sold his gazebo to Oakham Town Council for £250.

At the Full Meeting of the town council, the heavy-duty gazebo, which is 3m x 4m x 5m, was offered on a first refusal basis to the council for their use.

Members decided that an appropriate and fair price for the gazebo would be £250. A similar new example would cost £589.

Cllr Lowe, in accepting the council's offer, announced: "All the money will be going to two of my mayoral charities."

The mayor's chosen charities are also supported at events that take place throughout the year, from tombolas to live music events, the Mayor's Ball and more.
