Crossfit Oakham has recently relocated to Hackamore Way, and the team can't wait to welcome you to the new premises – with a bigger, better space and wide range of equipment.

Crossfit Oakham has been operating in the area for 9 years, and this year the team relocated from their old premises at Oakham Enterprise Park to their new unit just off the A606 bypass.

Located in between some major local and national brands, the gym has grown in leaps and bounds since the move three months ago, and the team have enjoyed welcoming new customers, classes and equipment to the popular fitness facility.

The warehouse-style gym is primarily class focused, with customers also welcome to utilise the equipment on offer in their free time, before and after the small group training sessions.

Crossfit Oakham is owned and run by Jade and Ryan Smith, who are long-term lovers of Crossfit and fitness, and have enjoyed bringing their passion to the people of Oakham.

Ryan discovered Crossfit in 2010 during his time as a strength and conditioning coach at Nottingham University.

He fell in love with the training methodologies and the message that Crossfit aims to spread. This was not the only love he discovered working in the fitness industry. Crossfit is where he met his wife Jade, and the duo soon decided to relocate to Oakham to open their own Crossfit gym.

Not only were they the first Crossfit gym in the area, but to this day they still run the only Crossfit Box in Oakham.

But what is a Crossfit Box?

A Crossfit Box is named due to its typical warehouse-type setting. Instead of seeing the machines you see in a typical gym, you're more likely to see stacks of weights, barbells, pull-up bars and lots of open space.

Ryan said: "There is a misconception with Crossfit that you have to be really fit before you start, but because everything at Crossfit Oakham is coached, it can be tailored and scaled to their ability. We can take anyone of any level – it is a gym for everyone.

"Crossfit Oakham offers a variety of classes and services, and the most unique selling factor of the gym is the in-depth personalised classes that run 7 days a week, led by one of our fully certified crossfit coaches.

"The whole gym is a brand new unit, with state of the art equipment! From Concept 2 Rowing machines, echo bikes and ski ergs, to even stocking a few pieces of strongman equipment!"

Adding to this, the facility has an in house personal trainer (@Bullyspersonaltraining), a private class studio, a sport massage therapist and treatment room, a beautician (@Bcd_beautyoakham) and even a private personal training suite.

The team also run sessions for teens and kids, meaning that your new fitness fascination can be a family affair.

Ryan added: "Crossfit is just as much about the social aspect of being part of a family as it is your training."

This is something that the team take the most pride in and, as well as taking part in local fundraisers, they host several social events such as a Christmas party, birthday dos and even encourage their athletes to try their hand at local competitions.

For the more competitive gym goers, they have also just joined HYDROX, a global race that sees participants run 1km and complete 1 functional workout, repeated eight times and then entered into the global leader board. This is incredibly popular in bigger cities, so putting Crossfit Oakham ahead of the trend in Rural Rutland.

Ryan continued: "As part of their membership, all customers get access to an app to track their progress, a private Facebook page and invite to all socials as well as in house competitions and other target setting programmes, such as HYDROX."

Ryan concluded: "We now consider Rutland our home, our daughter has been raised here as well as our gym dog Ubba - if you're a member you will know who we mean!

"One thing we want to preach more than anything is how Crossfit is accessible to everyone, regardless of age or ability. There's no one who can't get involved, so come along for a free taster session!"

The team are currently running some new membership deals such as a couples membership and an introduction package

You can get in touch with the team via their website, on Facebook or on Instagram
