De Merke Estates, who in August 2022 submitted a 500-home planning application for Land west of Main Road in Barleythorpe, have made a planning appeal following the failure of Rutland County Council to give notice of their decision in the allocated timeframe.

De Merke Estates has appealed to the Secretary of State against the Council's failure to give notice of its decision within the appropriate period on planning application for:

  • Outline planning permission (with all matters reserved except for means of access from Main Road) for residential development, with landscaping and public open space, associated drainage infrastructure and access works, and safeguarded land for community uses.

This appeal will be decided by an Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State at a public inquiry.

Any comments made by Rutland residents on the original application will be sent, by the Council, to the Planning Inspectorate and they will be taken into account by the Inspector who decides the appeal unless they are subsequently withdrawn.

Any Rutland residents who wish to amend or withdraw their comments or make any new ones should contact the Planning Inspectorate quoting reference APP/A2470/W/22/3310265 by the 19th of December 2022. You can submit comments online or send them to Aisosa Charles, Temple Quay House, 2 The Square, Bristol, BS1 6PN.

This application was received on the 13th of July and was validated on the 19th of July 2022.The appeal began on the 14th of November 2022.

View details of the appeal here, quoting 2022/0019/APPEAL.
