A new Didi Rugby programme is set to launch in Whissendine, Rutland, in the New Year.

With a long history in rugby, Rutland is now getting its youngsters playing from an even earlier age, getting the next generation of players enthusiastic about the England-born team sport.

Played primarily from October to April at grass-roots level, rugby has been popular in Oakham for over 100 years, with Oakham Rugby Football Club celebrating its 100th year last season.

Oakham Rugby Club welcomes youngsters from the age of four, and has players as old at 76 (the ever-sporting Brian, who still plays in regular weekend games with his teammates!)

Now, a new club is opening up and welcoming local tots as young as 18 months.

Keep fit, make friends and perhaps find a life-long love of rugby at Whissendine Village Hall as Did Rugby launches a new club for kids aged 18 months to six years.

The sessions will begin on 20 January and take place from 9am until 10:20am on Saturday mornings.

Find out more on the Didi Rugby Facebook page, or learn more about junior and adult rugby with Oakham Rugby Football Club online.
