Oakham Christmas Light Switch On is an annual event organised by Oakham Town Council to kick off the festive period with an afternoon of merriment and community spirit.

This year, the event will take place on Sunday 24th November 2024 at 4pm. There will be fairground rides in Market Square and cafe Allez will be serving hot chocolate and other drinks. This will be running between 3pm and 5pm.

This year the Town Council have used a different contractor to put up the lights and organised the tree so those attending the Switch On will see differences to previous years.

Market Square will be closed on 24th November between 8am and 8pm and all vehicles will be prohibited from parking or driving along the length of road.

The Light Switch On will follow an event taking place in Oakham that day. A Christmas Craft and Gift Fair is planned for Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th November between 11am and 3pm. This will include stalls in the Wisteria Hotel and Victoria Hall.
