Everything you need to know ahead of the 191st Rutland County Show

The Rutland County Show will return to Rutland Showground on Sunday 2nd June with a jam-packed day celebrating all the things locals love about rural life around the county. 

From the Shetland Pony Grand National to Duck herding, the two main rings have a full itinerary of shows, competitions and demonstrations to enjoy.

In the main ring, you will be able to enjoy the following: 

  • 7.30am - Light Horses 
  • 10.30am - British Scurry & Trials Driving Team 
  • 11.15am - Shetland Pony Grand National 
  • 12.00pm - Stannage Stunt Team 
  • 12.45pm - British Scurry & Trials Driving Team 
  • 1.30pm - Shetland Grand National 
  • 2.15pm - Stannage Stunt Team 
  • 2.50pm -Heavy Horse Parade 
  • 3.30pm - Cattle & Robert Bakewell Tricentenary Parade Machinery Parade 
  • 4.00pm - Machinery Parade 

On top of this, in the MHR Rutland Ring, you will be able to find: 

  • 10.00am - Meadow View Dog Scent Demo 
  • 10.30am - Dog and Duck Display 
  • 11.00am - K&F Falconry 
  • 11.30am - Meadow View Dog Show 
  • 1.30pm - Meadow View Dog Scent Demo 
  • 2.30pm - K&F Falconry

Throughout the day there will be live music performances, including resident DJ for the day DJ Coco, Rutland-based acoustic singer Jake Welles, unique musical duo ParafinAlien, Irish folk band McGoo and the EAGA Gospel Choir. 

To keep the little ones entertained, there will be a show farmyard, a family-friendly opportunity to meet animals and climb on some tractors and farm machinery. There will also be the opportunity to get stuck into some have-a-go sports sessions throughout the day run by Oakham RFC, Royce Rangers Football Club and Oakham Tennis Club.

If all this excitement has got you working up an appetite, there is an incredible selection of local and artisan food and drink, from churros and coffee to a crispy duck rotisserie. 

There will also be a wide array of trade stands and stalls to help you discover the best the local area has to offer, from Rutland Community First Responders to the Binocular Outlet, Charmed Crochet to Ripe Cheese, there is plenty to learn about.
