Father's Day event promises lively season of music at Cutts Close
A Father's Day music event that took place yesterday, Sunday 18 June, was well attended, and promises a lively summer of events at Oakham's Cutts Close.
The Cutts Close music event, organised by Oakham Town Council, was attended by approximately 500 Rutland residents and just concluded as the weather closed in.
In attendance were Oakham Town Councillors and local families, as well as food stalls, The Grainstore, Ovation, and games and rides for the kids.
The band who took centre stage on Oakham's band stand were The Houndogs.
The trio perform rockabilly and rock and roll classics by the likes of Elvis, Buddy Holly and The Stray Cats, as well as their own songs.
They are an energetic band of three brothers who have performed professionally for over 15 years, during which time they have built up an enormous following and fan-base - and this certainly showed at the event, which saw revellers up and dancing from song one.
There is more music planned throughout the summer, and Mayor, Sally-Anne Wadsworth, could be seen handing out flyers for the upcoming music events.
The lineup includes popular local bands, including the Rutland Concert Band, Manky Beds, Los Cajones, Vesper, the Smokestack Blues Band, Uppingham Jazz and Blues Band and many more.
On 9 July, the music will be a part of the Lord-Lieutenant's Party in the Park. Find out more about this event on our What's On page.
