Much loved Radio Rutland presenter Rob Persani gives his final breakfast show on Friday morning.

The move comes as part of a rebranding of the popular Radio Rutland station.

Mr Persani said on social media early this evening: "If you've been listening to Rutland Radio recently, you'll have heard that change is coming on 1st September.

"Part of those changes mean it's my last Rutland Radio Breakfast Show this Friday 6 till 10am, and my final show on Saturday 9am to midday.

"So many people to thank for the past 21 years and more. Some highlights on Friday morning after 8am.

"The opportunity to put our area on the map has been amazing, and to end up on an actual map is truly wonderful, thanks Katie Cardew Illustrations!

Mr Persani continued: "Thank you if you've listened at any point, you really have become an extended family to me. And thank you to my wonderful family for being part of the experience, especially since lockdown and the home broadcasts began."

The move follows the owners of Radio Rutland, Bauer Media, deciding to re-brand Radio Rutland and many other stations, despite campaigns from many within Rutland, including MP Alicia Kearns.

The departure of the popular presenter has been met with upset tonight.

Lucy Buckby said: "Absolutely gutted to read this Rob! You have been part of my life since moving to the area just over 12 years ago. It has been a great pleasure to get to know you and become your friend; thank you for your never ending support through difficult times and for your unwavering championing of everything local and good. You will be sorely missed! Love to you and your wonderful family."

Jonny Young said: "Wishing you all the very best Rob ï¸ Thank you for all of your support for community causes, awards ceremonies, fundraising & events locally - I know a lot of this you did in your own time.

"Your support of our events, charity concerts & activities at Rutland Water & Normanton Church has been huge. We can't thank you enough!

"Not having you presenting Rutland Radio is going to take a while to sink in & you will be missed immensely. My journey to work each day will not be the same.

"Even worse is not being able to tune into Rutland Radio when we are knee deep in snow & we need to know essential travel/travel news. Not to mention Christmas Day morning without your festive songs & annual concert broadcast."

Jonny added: "I'm not sure where the road leads for you now - but wherever it may go, I wish you all the very best. ðŸ™"

Adrian McGachie also said: "Bauer Group have lost a loyal listener, here. I truly hope they fail!!

"They obviously took nothing about our unique county seriously.

"Good luck Rob, and all the presenters, whom I consider my radio friends."
