Rutland residents can find out more about a community gardening scheme at an upcoming open day.

Growers Row, located at Rutland Showground, is a community gardening space hosted by Root-and-Branch-Out, a local organisation that champions food, nature and the environment.

The established gardening scheme sees local people come together to cultivate a thriving and productive space open to the whole community.

Later this month, the team are hosting an open day to showcase their hard work, and to invite prospective members to see what they could get out of the community scheme.

The team said: "Two years ago, Growers Row was just an empty field - now it is a thriving and productive garden for the whole community!

"Come and see where we grow food and hold workshops in the winter. Check out the accessible raised gardens, polytunnels, rescue flower bed, wildflower meadow, key-hole gardens, and children's play area.

"There is something for everyone."

On top of experiencing the garden, visitors at the event will be able to:

  • Enjoy free refreshments
  • Fill a goodie-bag with freshly picked produce
  • Meet the team

Parking at the event is free and open to all.
