The Flying Scotsman will be passing through Oakham tomorrow, Wednesday 13 December.

The Flying Scotsman is an express passenger train service that operates between Edinburgh and London, the capitals respectively of Scotland and England, via the East Coast Main Line. The service began in 1862 as the Special Scotch Express until it was officially adopted in 1924

It is currently operated by the London North Eastern Railway, and will be taking a journey north tomorrow.

Locomotive number 60103, the Flying Scotsman, will be on the mainline this Wednesday as it heads to Worcester.

Departing Cambridge at 6:25am, the train will pass through Ely at 7:20am, Manea at 7:38am, March at 7:47am and Peterborough at 8:10am.

Next, it will pass by Oakham at 8:45am, and then Melton Mowbray at 9am, before heading on to Leicester at 9:56am, Nuneaton, Water Orton, Barnt Green, Droitwich Spa and Worcester Shrub Hill.

After time in Worcester, Flying Scotsman will depart at 3:40pm and will pass through Longbridge, Coleshill Parkway, Nuneaton, Leicester, at 6pm, and Humberstone Road, where Flying Scotsman is replaced by a vintage diesel locomotive.

Let us know if you see it and send in your pictures to evie.payne@nubnews. We look forward to seeing your best snaps of the historic locomotive.
