Former Chairman of Rutland's Royal British Legion cycles 550 miles to raise funds for local school
The former Chairman of the Rutland branch of the Royal British Legion has raised £700 for Cottesmore Academy.
Located on Kendrew Barracks, the local school is unique as it offers an education to children coming from service families from around the world.
All of the children at the school come from service families, including those from Britain, Fiji, Nepal, Africa and the Caribbean.
This unique range of backgrounds enables the school to share and celebrate with the local community and enrich our curriculum at every opportunity.
A spokesperson from the school said: "We strongly believe that a child's time at school should be one of the best times of their lives, and we strive to make sure that it is. We aim for our learners to think deeply about their learning, believe in themselves, dream big and dare to be the best they can be."
David Smith, the former Chair of Rutland's British Royal Legion Branch also believes in learning and confidence, and has just undertaken a mammoth 550 mile cycle ride from RAF Scampton, to the Mohne Dam.
In doing so, he raised £700 for the military school and hopes that these funds will support their education.
