A free carbon monoxide awareness workshop - highlighting the signs and symptoms of this silent killer - is being staged in Oakham next week.

Organisers Home Instead Senior Care is staging the event primarily to educate and advise anyone who looks after a vulnerable person - but it is open to anyone from the Rutland community.

The half-day interactive workshop will explain the sources, signs and symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning in the home as well as advising what do to if someone suspects a carbon monoxide leak.

Sarah Coxall, events and marketing, said: "We are inviting members of the local community to our awareness workshop to help educate and advise them on what to do regarding carbon monoxide in the home.

"As a company specialising in providing older people with non-medical care, including supporting people with dementia to remain living independently in their own homes, we hope it will be of interest to those caring for vulnerable people.

"However, sharing this potentially life-saving information is so important anyone who wants to attend is very welcome."

Home Instead Senior Care is hosting the workshop on Tuesday, 29 October, with Gas Safe Charity delivering the training through its Think CO campaign.

It is being held at the Oakham Fire Station, South Street, starting at 9.30am and running until 12.30pm.

Spaces are limited and anyone wanting to attend needs to be book in advance by calling 01572 898147 or emailing [email protected].
