Parents and carers in Rutland may be eligible to benefit from a free holiday club programme for children and young people over the Christmas break, through the Holiday Activities and Food programme (HAF).

The Government-backed scheme, targeted at those who are eligible for benefits-related free school meals, will enable children and young people to have fun with friends, and learn and develop new skills through enriching activities such as sport, dance, drama, cooking, wild camps, ice skating and cycling skills.

Rutland County Council's Portfolio Holder for Children's Services and Education, Cllr David Wilby said: "We know that this time of year can be hard on families financially, especially in the current climate when the cost of living is continuing to rise. Despite the struggles people are facing, we want to ensure that children still get to experience a fulfilling and enriching holiday experience.

"Rutland's HAF programme will ensure that children benefit from learning new skills, socialising with friends, and enjoying nutritious food in a safe environment."

Parents and carers who think their children and young people might benefit from free holiday clubs should visit the Rutland County Council website for information on how to apply.
