As temperatures remain high this week, the team at Rutland Water have shared a list of things that you can do for free at the reservoir and surrounding parks.

Set around beautiful Rutland Water and covering 4,200 acres of open countryside, the park offers everything from walking and cycling to fishing and watersports.

There is also the fantastic nature reserve, managed by the Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust, and home to the Rutland Osprey Project.

There are plenty of free activities to do at the rural setting, including:

  • Bring a picnic or bbq to one of the designated picnic areas
  • Take the dog for a walk round the multiple tracks and trails
  • Bring your bike and see how far you can get round the Water - or rent a bike from one of the two shops at the Water
  • Visit the beach area at Sykes Lane on the North Shore
  • Enjoy being out and about in the great outdoors
  • See what wildlife you can spot

Alternatively, enjoy crazy golf, Rumble Live Action Gaming, rent a kayak or paddle board, head to the aqua park or get out on the Water aboard the Rutland Belle - all ticketed and chargeable activities at the reservoir.

Whatever you're looking to do, there's plenty to choose from. To find out more, visit the Rutland Water website.

Alternatively, head to the Oakham Nub News What's On page for other local events and more.
