Officials, students, dignitaries and members of the local military were in attendance.
Rutland's Chair welcomed Their Royal Highnesses to Oakham Castle, where a new horseshoe was gifted to the historic Norman building.
The Duke and Duchess spent time talking to invited individuals.
A new double horseshoe was unveiled.
Oakham's young population waited patiently, despite the rain.
Students from local secondary schools and colleges were also in attendance, many of whom are completing their Duke of Edinburgh Awards.
The Duke stopped to chat to local workers and customers at The Salon in Oakham Market Place before the pair walked to Oakham Library.
HRH Sophie stopped to say hi to Vinny, a very polite pup.
The Duke and Duchess then headed to Oakham Library grounds to view the new statue of the late Queen Elizabeth II - the first memorial to the late Queen in the country.
They met local people, dignitaries and officials, including MP Alicia Kearns and Oakham's former Mayor, Cllr Sally-Anne Wadsworth.
The statue was commissioned by Rutland's Lord-Lieutenant, Dr Sarah Furness, pictured below.
The sculptor, Hywel Pratley was in attendance, pictured below third from the left.
Crowds turned out to see the royal couple.
The Duke and Duchess admired the statue before heading to Rutland Water for a private trip aboard the Rutland Belle.
