Garage worker double over drink drive limit drove into garage wall and faces losing alcohol sales licence

A garage worker who crashed her car in Uppingham while more than twice the drink drive limit is facing losing the licence that allows her to sell alcohol.
Leanne Robbins drove her car into a wall off Uppingham Road in Caldecott in the early hours of February 13, after she had been drinking and decided to go to buy cigarettes.
Robbins, who failed a roadside breath test and at a police station, was found to have 98 micro-grammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35. She was banned from driving for 25 months, given 100 hours' community service and will pay court costs.
Now Robbins, 36, who works at the BP Central Garage in Uppingham, faces losing her personal licence, which is issued by the local licensing authority and allows the sale of alcohol. Robbins is the designated premises supervisor [DPS] for the garage.
Rutland County Council's licensing committee will make a decision next Tuesday (April 29) and Robbins, of Tods Terrace, Uppingham, has asked the authority to suspend her licence for just three months rather than revoke it.
In a statement sent to the council she said: "I would like to let you know that I have great remorse for my actions as much as it was a very big error of judgement on that evening, there is no excuse for that behaviour.
"Unfortunately, I cannot go back and rectify the mistake, but I can assure you this will not happen again as this has had a massive effect on my personal life.
"I am aware that you can revoke or suspend my licence for this incident, I would like you to consider suspending my licence for three months rather than revoking it fully. My community order will be finished by then and I would like the opportunity to carry on with my life as much as possible whilst I have no driving licence.
I have had a personal licence and have been the DPS of central garage Uppingham for many years without incident. We have assigned the director as the DPS for now, so the company that I work for can continue trading as normal.
