Rutland family-run gardening business up for landscaping award
By Grace Kennington 2nd Aug 2026
A Rutland-based gardening business has been nominated for an East Midlands award for landscaping, while also being nominated for a UK Small Business Award.
Stamford and Rutland Garden Maintenance, a Ketton-based business, are nominated for their second landscaping award.
Already up for Best Landscaping Business in the UK Small Business Awards, the business has now also been nominated for Best Landscaping Business in the East Midlands.
Jonathan Wheatley, who owns and runs the business, said: 'This award is a real honour as it has come from a nomination by one or more of our client's.
'It's nice to think someone would take the time out of their lives to nominate us for an award of this stature.
'Being up for two awards is humbling, it goes to show that with hard work, experience and good customer service, anyone can create a successful business.'
This is a family business, run by husband and wife duo Jon and Angela, that started in 2023 as an opportunity to break free from the 9-5.
To win the award, Stamford and Rutland Garden Maintenance will need to win the public vote.
Jon also said: 'Since we launched our hybrid commercial package, we've been busier than ever. What our hybrid package entails is the best of grounds maintenance, e.g. mowing, hedge trimming, weeds, combined with horticultural knowledge for specific plants including planting design for not just residential properties but businesses too.
