Global Birdfair returning to Rutland Water this weekend
By Grace Kennington 8th Jul 2026
Global Birdfair is returning to Rutland this weekend, with bird-lovers and conservationists from across the world flocking to Lyndon Top.
Global Birdfair is the biggest annual meeting of ornithologists, nature enthusiasts and birdwatchers in the world, taking place this year from 10 to 12 July.
The event features over 300 exhibitors, wildlife photographers and family activities, making it a fascinating and engaging weekend with something for everyone.
This year's theme is 'Preventing Island Extinctions' and will raise funds for Birdlife International.
One thing that makes the setting of the festival so special is the focus on Rutland's beloved osprey, with the osprey stage at the festival housing talks about everything from conservation to women's connection to birdwatching and one man's special connection to his owl best friend.
There is so much going on across the four stages, owl workshop, authors stage and discovery zone, as well as nature walks and the opportunity to try birdwatching and nature photography.
