An auction for parcels of land in Oakham is set to take place today, 26 October, despite a campaign by local resident to prevent the sale of the land.

Land off of Schofield Road, Oakham, Rutland, is set to be sold at auction this afternoon.

Residents have been fighting to save the green space, which is used for dog walking, as a play area and for sledging in the winter, campaigners claim.

The group aims to "prevent speculative developers applying for planning consent".

The land is approximately 1.64 acres and is listed on Rightmove.

The land is For Sale by Public Auction on 26 October at The Nottingham Racecourse, The Centenary Suite, Colwick Road, Nottingham, NG2 4BE.

Parcels of land are listed at £5,000+.

The auction is set to take place today at 2:30pm.
