A former Rutland convenience shop is being transformed into a cake and dessert shop.

The former home of Berridge's Food & Wine at 6 Melton Road is set to become Rutland Cake and Dessert, a new spot for local foodies with a serious sweet tooth.

The convenience shop, located next to Oakham Nails and opposite Oakham's town centre Esso petrol station, had been a staple in Oakham until it closed last year - and residents have welcomed that there will be one less empty shop in the market town's shopping street.

Rutland Cake and Dessert joins Buttermilk, another dessert shop and café just a short walk down Oakham High Street that opened in September 2021.

While excitement has been brewing since the shopfront had a facelift, an opening date has not yet been confirmed.
