Have your say on future domestic and sexual violence services

Victims of sexual and domestic abuse are being asked for their views on how help and advice can best be offered in future.

The current arrangements for providing these services across Rutland, Leicester and Leicestershire are due to expire at the end of March 2021.

And a consultation is being launched to give people a chance to have their say on the services and what they would like to see offered after this date.

Councillor Alan Walters, Cabinet Member for Safeguarding Adults at Rutland County Council, said: "People need to know that help is available if they're suffering abuse.

"Rutland will continue to have a range of specialist support services that can offer help in complete confidentiality after March 2021.

"What this change of contract means is that we have an opportunity now to ask people what they think we can do to make services even more effective and responsive.

"The consultation is open to everyone and we are particularly keen to hear from those who have sought help in the past.

"We hope as many people as possible will share their views and experiences with us."

Domestic abuse and sexual violence services across Rutland, the city and county, are commissioned by Leicester City Council, Leicestershire County Council, Rutland County Council, and the Police and Crime Commissioner for Leicestershire.

They deal with help and support for victims, children, and those perpetrating domestic abuse, with an emphasis on easily accessible advice and information, effective prevention, support, protection and recovery.

The four organisations particularly want to improve how they respond to perpetrators and support victims and their families when they recommission the services.

The consultation is live and runs until 24 November.
