Health leaders in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR) are asking local people to give their opinion on a consultation to improve access to same-day healthcare services. 

Running between 13th January and 16th March 2025, the consultation will give residents to voice their views on the new proposals outlined by LLR. 

The proposals aim to improve health services for local people by making same-day services easier to access, as well as increasing the availability of out of hours home care to maintain access while GP practices are closed. 

The proposal put forward by LLR hopes to bring together the Minor Injuries Unit and Urgent Care Centre to create a new 'Minor Illness and Injury Service' to be open seven days a week based at Rutland Memorial Hospital. 

Dr James Burden, local GP and Rutland Clinical Place Lead for the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Integrated Care Board (LLR ICB) said: "As part of the new proposals we will be looking to provide services from one place, with a consistent way of booking appointments and easy to remember opening times. As well as improving the quality of care, it would also mean that patients will be able to have a better experience in modernised facilities."
