As the days begin to get longer and lighter and the sun shines brighter, hope starts to fill us all.

After what has felt like an exceptionally long winter, the change is most welcome.

As our county continues to do a fantastic job of rolling out the Covid vaccine we are all begin to feel that meeting up with our dearest family and friends is almost within our reach.

Dreams of summer BBQ's, parties, suppers and brunches in your garden are not far away. It's time to get ready.

Prepare to make the most of it when it comes. It's time to sort the garden. Do you have an area that needs revamping or tired furniture that needs replacing? Let's get to it!

Now is the time to prepare the boarders and beds. Turning over the soil, adding in manure. Sprinkle slow-release fertiliser around the base of roses and other flowering shrubs.

Cut back wisteria side shoots to three buds from the base to encourage and abundance of flowers. Pot up containers with spring bedding like primroses and wallflowers.

Move deciduous shrubs growing in the wrong place while they are dormant. Cut deciduous ornamental grasses that have been left over winter before the new shoots appear.

Prepare your seed potatoes and sow early vegetable seeds (with protection from late frosts).

Think of the glorious abundance of vegetable you can soon be sharing with friends! With the spring bulbs appearing, it's a reminder to plant our summer bulbs now too.

With heaps of new and classic colours and combinations, choosing your favourite Dahlia, agapanthus or gladioli will be a tough job in its self!

Don't forget too to think of the wildlife in your garden this year. What would you love to see? Start a planting plan to encourage the bees or butterflies.

Refresh or create a pond with fresh plants, big or small and attract a plethora of wildlife, or a water feature to create a peaceful sanctuary away from it, all enjoyed from your new garden furniture.

With oodles to choose from at Welland Vale Garden Centre, it's good to remember that a lot of the plants are grown on site.

Bedding, perennials, shrubs and climber there is always a good range of quality stock.

Talking of which, stock across the industry this year will be hard to get hold of due to Brexit and the shipping crisis this year so expect a few delays, pre ordering and selling out fast!

Fortunately for Welland Vale much of their spring and summer stock has been arriving early with only a few lines to arrive but are on route!

With a huge collection of garden furniture arriving in the next few weeks it will be a hard decision to decide what style to pick.

Don't forget with around 80% of their centre outdoors in the open air, its a safe place to shop and all measures in place to ensure shopping in a comfortable safe environment.

For those not wishing to venture out, the online webshop is available to order online or you can even order on the phone with collection or local delivery available too.
