Hospice seeks 300 volunteers across Rutland and nearby counties

By The Editor 22nd Apr 2021

Three hundred shop volunteers are needed by LORUS, a charity which offers hospice care to Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland.

The charity has now re-opened its 27 shops, including a branch at 12 High Street, Oakham, and says it is "in desperate need of helping hands."

A plea on social media continued: "No regular commitment is required so even if you can only spare us a few hours, we'd love to hear from you.

"We offer a trial day to anyone who is interested, full training and will work with you to find a role that's a perfect fit.

"We like to think volunteering at LOROS is an extremely rewarding experience, with lots of opportunities to meet new people, learn new skills and do something meaningful."

Every year, LOROS spends £8M to offer its services and after receiving some NHS funding needs over £6M a year to make it possible.

People interested in helping LOROS are asked to go to their local store or email, [email protected] to get started.
