Improvements being made to the Oakham Tesco superstore should be completed by 20 February 2023.

The works taking place in-store have been going on since October 2022, when the first of the cold deli counters was removed and temporary pallets of goods took their place.

Since then, the hot counter has also been removed, meaning the end of a long history of rotisserie chicken and warm food goods for the Oakham-based store.

As well as adding a whole new bank of self-service counters, the store has removed a number of tills manned by checkout staff, and plans on adding a Yo Sushi counter.

While many have voiced their support of this store upgrade, a few have begged that local people continue to support the independently owned GA Sushi, which opened on Church Street in May 2022.

The team shared a picture of what Oakham Teso shoppers can expect from the Yo Sushi counter.

While the works have been taking place, the staff have been providing extra assistance, including colleagues welcoming guests at the store entrance with large red signs reading 'here to help'.

Renovations, including the new sushi counter, are expected to be completed on approximately 20 February 2023. No store closures are anticipated, with most work taking place at night.
