Rutland County Council's Early Years team are hosting a drop in event for residents to come along and find out what support and services are available for children aged 0-5 in the county.  

Residents are encouraged to drop into the event at Wisteria Hotel, Catmos Street, Oakham on Wednesday 7 February from 10am – 3pm. 

There will be a host of information available, materials to take away and friendly professionals to have a chat with about any concerns or questions regarding different early years education and childcare options in Rutland.

This is also a great opportunity to talk to relevant people about what to do if you are worried about your child's development, how nurseries and childminders can support children with special educational needs and disabilities, what specialist support is available, how to access a funded place for your child and more. 

Throughout the week there will also be further events taking place for parents/carers to take part in with their early years children. 

Additionally, on Tuesday 6 February, Oakham Library are hosting a session for parents/carers from 10am – 11am, to come along with their children (under 5's) and choose and read picture books. For those wanting to join please book your space via Oakham Library on 01572 722918.

A Sensory Session for families with children aged 0-5 is also being held during the week. Families can come along to Rutland Family Hub on Thursday 8 February from 9.45am -11.15am. There is no need to book, simply drop in and enjoy the session. 

Rutland County Council's Portfolio Holder for Children and Families, Cllr Tim Smith, said: "This is a great opportunity for families to find more information about the wide range of resources available to parents in Rutland with young children, such as Rutland's Family Hub and Early Help Service as well as our early education providers and services. 

"The recent decision to close the Parks was made based on the knowledge that most children's needs can be met in mainstream settings. However, we are aware that there may still be some concerns regarding what is available within Rutland and so we would urge parents and carers to come along to the event at the Wisteria Hotel and talk to professionals who can help answer their questions."
