School children in Oakham have created designs for a card to welcome new residents to a development in the town.

The project was organised by Bellway, which is building new homes at Barleywoods, off Braunston Road.

Pupils in Year 2 at Catmose Primary School drew pictures and coloured in welcome messages, with their designs used to create a printed card which will be put through the letterboxes of new residents at Barleywoods.

Kelly Jackson, Head of School at Catmose Primary School, said: "The children at Catmose Primary were very excited to be asked to make welcome cards for future residents at the Bellway development. They were keen to share how nice the town is and what fun can be had, living here in Oakham. We hope the recipients of our cards enjoy them."

Neelam Shah, Bellway's Sales Advisor at Barleywoods, visited the school to meet the budding six and seven-year-old artists and to see their work.

Rhiannon Jones, Head of Sales at Bellway Eastern Counties, said: "We see ourselves as very much part of the local community in Oakham and contacted Catmose Primary School to see if they wanted to help us provide a warm Rutland welcome to the new residents who will soon be moving in at Barleywoods.

"We have taken our favourite designs and used them to create a bespoke card, which will provide a special hello to people who have just moved into their new home. We felt it would be a nice touch to feature the artwork of local children."

Bellway is building 62 new homes at Barleywoods including a range of three, four and five-bedroom properties. For more information, call 01572 200038 or head online.
