Rutland County Council is investing a further £110,000 into Oakham Enterprise Park (OEP) to support local business growth.

A former prison site, OEP was purchased by the council from the Ministry of Justice in 2012 and converted into a hub for small and medium-sized businesses.

The site currently operates at close to full capacity and almost all available business units are occupied.

Building on this success, the council intends to use £110,000 of capital funding to refurbish two vacant units on the site, allowing them to be taken over by an existing businesses which wants to expand and another relocating from another unit on the site.

Cllr Oliver Hemsley, Leader of Rutland County Council and Cabinet Member for Growth, said:

"Oakham Enterprise Park is a real asset to our local economy.

"Around 150 jobs have been created or safeguarded as a result of OEP, with more than 100 business units on the site currently occupied by businesses of all shapes and sizes.

"By investing further in improving usable business space at OEP we hope to build on this success and support more local companies and entrepreneurs."

Both of the units being refurbished are expected to ready and occupied this summer, subject to final agreement with the businesses that are moving in.
