Rutland Farm Park is welcoming volunteers wishing to meet new people, enjoy a hands-on experience and boost their volunteer credits for challenges such as the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh Awards.

Rutland Farm Park is a popular local attraction run by one Rutland family, with yours in mind, and this weekend they will be celebrating 6 years of hard work, family fundraisers, animal rescue and much more.

Headed up by owners and hands-on managers Clive and Julie, the farm has been a top spot for grownups and children since it reopened in 2017 after being closed for over a decade.

It brags a range of attractions and features, including a café, play park, animal petting and feeding sessions, a selection of home and handmade and allergy-friendly goodies available at Daphne's tea room, seasonal activities and a collection of rare breed animals.

Now, the opportunity has once again popped up for volunteers to join the team, caring for the animals and helping to host a range of events on the run up to the festive period.

The team have shared what it is like to volunteer at the farm, and have thanked one of their longest serving volunteers, Steve, who just can't get enough of life on the farm.

Rutland Farm Park's farmer Amy said: "Steve has been volunteering with us for a few years now. Even with his full time job, Steve is still here and is still giving up his Saturday mornings to help us, which we are forever grateful for.

"So, thank you Steve, not just for you help on the farm but for everything else you do and try to do for us - you are our hero!"

Amy continued: "We have some volunteer spaces available for either Duke of Edinburgh students or upcoming Vet Students to help on the farm, or for members of the local community looking to learn and meet new people.

"You will be helping on the farm with mucking out and anything else that needs to be done. You will learn all about animal welfare and you will get to have some fun with the animals once the work is done."

Farm Amy added: "I am looking for fun and enthusiastic volunteers who love animals but also keen to be with us. It's hard graft but caring for the animals is so much fun."

If you feel this would be for you, please drop Amy an email on [email protected].

The team are also getting ready to celebrate Christmas on the farm...
