There are only a few tickets left for the annual fundraising quiz hosted by founders of Prickleback Urchin Hedgehog Rescue, Rachel and Jay.
The quiz, set to take place on Friday 5 May, was first held last year, and has become an annual event that was so popular last year, the team have had to book a bigger venue this year.
Scheduled to coincide with Hedgehog Awareness Week 2023, the Prickleback Urchin Hedgehog Rescue team are hosting the quiz to raise funds for and awareness of their home-run hedgehog sanctuary.
Set up in July 2021, this haven has hosted over 140 prickly residents, with founders Rachel and Jay funding and administering any and all treatment needed to get the hedgehogs back out into the wild - with the support of Rutland Veterinary Practice.
While the home-run rescue centre has an Amazon Wish List from which people can select products to donate, they rely heavily upon donations to run.
As such, these now annual quiz nights are an essential part of their fundraising process.
For only £6 per person, you can support the rescue centre and enjoy an evening of community-led entertainment.
So gather your team of 4 - 6 people, or meet and join up with fellow quizzers on the night.
There will also be a raffle, with some top prizes up for grabs.
The event will take place at Rutland Showground, where a bar is available for those who wish to buy drinks. Nibbles will also be available.
Doors open at 7:30pm, and the quiz starts at 8pm.
There is plenty of free parking available at the venue.
Book your tickets here.
In the meantime, we'll kick off with our own little hedgehog quiz to get you limbered up for the evening of festivities.
- What is a male hedgehog called?
- What is a female hedgehog called?
- Do hedgehogs shed their spines?
- How many spines do hedgehogs have on average?
- Is it normal to see a hedgehog out in the open during the day?
Answers:
- A boar
- A sow
- Yes, when they are young - kind of like children getting their adult teeth!
- 4,000 - 5,000
- Unless it is breeding season, which runs from approximately May to August, no - this hedgehog might need your help.
How did you do?
If you think you're ready, you can book one of the few remaining tables and put your knowledge to the test!
