There has been a change of Portfolio Holder for Children's Services, Homelessness and Housing Services at Rutland County Council.

Councillor Raymond Payne has stepped down in his role as Portfolio Holder for Children's Services, Homelessness and Housing Services due to personal reasons.

Cllr Payne will continue as ward councillor for Oakham South.

Leader of Rutland Council, Cllr Gale Waller, has assigned another Liberal Democrat, Cllr Tim Smith, ward member for Normanton, as Portfolio Holder for Children's Services, Homelessness and Housing Services with immediate effect.

Leader of Rutland County Council, Gale Waller, said: "I would like to thank Cllr Payne on behalf of Rutland County Council for all of his hard work during his time as Portfolio Holder. I know that this was a difficult decision and am pleased he will continue to serve the people of Rutland as ward member for Oakham South.

"I would also like to take this opportunity to welcome Cllr Smith to his new role on the Cabinet. I look forward to Cllr Smith leading on issues within Children's Services, Homelessness and Housing and know that he will be a great asset to the Cabinet."

Cllr Smith will take on duties as portfolio holder immediately, and the mandatory announcement will be made at the next Full Council meeting taking place on 4 September 2023.
