All Saints Church Oakham housed a large audience to hear a remarkable recital by tenor Harry Jacques and pianist Anne Bolt. 

Harry, who is also Director of Music at the church, enjoys an extensive recital career across the country, spending most of last summer performing at Glyndebourne. Anne is a notable recital pianist is well known to all local audiences.

Their recital included a range of songs reflecting the moods of evening and night. Composers ranged from Mozart, through Schubert and Brahms, to Benjamin Britten.

The performance of each song carefully was crafted to reflect its own style and mood. Each performance received warm applause. Anne Venning, a member of the audience commented "Last night's performance was amazing, Harry."

Although Rutland enjoys a range of excellent concerts, this one in Oakham is likely to stay in everyone's memory for a long time. The atmosphere was totally informal, but the quality of the performance was highly professional.

All Saints presents a number of evening recitals each summer. The next one, on Saturday 6^th September will be given by the Ammenti String Trio (tickets available on the door or online)
