A local dairy has urged Rutland residents to ignore a social media post condemning the dairy's practices - which the dairy farm allege contains false accusations.

A Cottesmore resident and social media user has taken to a local Facebook page to share his frustration about a box of broken milk bottles risking "dog walkers, multiple horse riders" and "school children".

The resident said: "Don't order milk from Milk and More or Ferneley's. 7.1kg of glass bottles left on the road and path, no effort to clear up big bits, small bits that are still down as I could not clean it all up on a path with 40 plus dog walkers, multiple horse riders and loads of school children. Phoned them and 'not my driver, not my responsibility, scum bags."

However, Ferneley's have confirmed that these broken bottles are not theirs, since they have Ferneley's logos on their own branded milk, and the bottles pictured by the frustrated resident did not.

The team have spoken out about the social media post, and have reassured residents that the litter was not left by the company or any of their employees: "Just to clarify this was not us. The majority of our bottles are branded, we don't deliver on a Saturday in Cottesmore and all our vans have sliding doors. We tried to explain this on the phone but understandably the gentleman was very frustrated and wouldn't listen. I would appreciate our name not being tarnished."

Residents have stood up in solidarity with the local dairy, confirming that their milk bottles are branded, and that this incident should not stop locals from using the services.

One commented: "I would never have doubted you."

Another added: "Whoever left it should feel absolutely disgusted."
