Join in with a host of events taking place in and around Rutland this weekend, including books, sport, art and more.

Rugby World Cup

This month, local bars and sports venues will be screening all rugby world cup games.

On Friday 15 September, at 20:00 Ovation, Bill's Bar, The Crown Tavern and The Fox and Hounds in Knossington will be showing the NZ v Nambia game, and on Saturday 16 September, they will be screening:

14:00 Samoa v Chile 

16:45 Wales v Portugal 

20:00 Ireland v Tonga 

To get a feel for the game is Oakham's favourite sports bar, head down to The Crown Tavern on Crown Walk, where landlady Lindsay is happy for customers to bring their own food - just be sure to grab a Guinness at the bar to enjoy with the exhilarating games!

14th Century Chapel Heritage Day

Heritage Open Days is England's largest community led festival of history and culture. Every year in September it brings people together to celebrate their heritage, community and history, and the hidden treasure in their own community.

As a part of this nationwide event, St John & St Anne Almshouse Charity is delighted to be opening the doors to its 14th Century Chapel at St Annes Close, Oakham, LE15 6AZ on Friday 15th September 10am-2pm, for people to come and learn more about this historic Chapel.

You will also be able to find out more about the work of the charity that provides independent accommodation for 117 older people across Oakham and Uppingham.

Farmers Market

Head down to Gaol Street on 16 September to enjoy the monthly farmers market in the heart of Oakham.

Buy fresh produce, crafts and gifts, or indulge in cooked food and meats direct from the farmers.

Oakham Castle Family Fun Day

Oakham Castle is getting ready to host a Family Fun Day with The Ferrers Household, a 15th century living history re-enactment society, on Saturday 16 September.

Join the team for a day of non-stop fun, medieval challenges and excitement as part of celebrating 'Rutland Day'.

The fun day will take place from 10am until 4pm at Oakham Castle, LE15 6DR

There will be no parking on site.
